Rikers Island Inmate Beats Female Corrections Officer Brutally
A female Corrections officer was ruthlessly beaten by a Rikers Island prisoner, abandoning her wounded with two bruised eyes, as indicated by a report by NY Daily News
Incidentally, the beating started when the prison guard Elizabeth Sturdivant was giving the prisoner Jessy Blount a reference for thumping another detainee. The criminal dissension documented against the Blount cited him as an idiom "I'm going to overlook you are a female and thump you out,"
Says Sturdivant's rep:
"Again we have some individual beaten by a prisoner and our situation is practically hopeless," said Patrick Ferraioulo, president of the Correction Captains Association, which speaks to Sturdivant. "It's just going to deteriorate. Individuals are hesitant to protect themselves."
