Prince Okojie Mercy Johnson’s husband addresses claims about running for political office

 

Posters featuring Prince Odi Okojie, Mercy Johnson’s husband, two days ago, were being shared on Facebook, which led to the speculation that he would run in the upcoming Edo State Governorship elections as the Deputy of the PDP’s preferred candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu.


Prince Okojie has responded to claims that, saying that this campaign is only being carried out by youths, students and ‘interest groups’ in his local government.
He said “I appreciate this gesture ; it is a good thing for people to recognize you and your good work and want you to serve especially when one has been supportive without being in any political office,”

Prince Okojie said in a new recently, adding that the position of a deputy governor isn’t one for campaigns.

“The party leaders alongside members chose who flies the party’s ticket alongside the governorship candidate,” he added.

On if he would be interested in working with the PDP’s preferred governorship candidate, he said while he is not endorsing the on-going campaign,  “I am available to serve in whatever capacity the party wants me to serve. I am a loyal party member.”
