MAN BEATS WIFE TO DEATH IN PORT HARCOURT

 

The suspect, Mr. Christopher Okon, had reportedly killed his wife and mother of their five children during a quarrel which had arisen over his lover.

Okon who is a driver with a company in Port Harcourt and a native of Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State, resides on Nanka Street, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, had reportedly been having extra-marital affair with his co-tenant whose identity has been withheld.

Southern City News reports that the quarrel had begun when the victim identified as, Nsikak, who reportedly sells cooked food, had returned from the market to discover that Okon’s alleged lover had fed her kids.

The reports reveal that Nsikak had immediately questioned the alleged lover on her reasons for feeding her children, only for her to call Okon on the phone and reporting the situation to him.

Upon receiving the call, Okon had arrived at the scene and reportedly attacked his wife, who is also reported to have been a nursing mother at the time of her death.

The suspect had reportedly gone wild, violently pushing Nsikak out of the house after beating her up and locking her out at about 2am in the morning.

Sources reveal that Nsikak had collapsed after the push, adding that the victim had been found struggling for breath at dawn of the next day.

Angry neighbours had reportedly dragged Okon outside, forcing him to carry his wife’s corpse, as one of Nsikak’s friends identified as Mrs Beauty, describes the sad incident as painful and shameful.

Mrs Beauty also accused Okon of ignoring his responsibility as a husband, revealing regrets that Okon had spet most of his time flirting around with other women in the compound.

Speaking with correspondents, Mrs Beauty said:

“This man, popularly called Papa David, never took care of his family. He is sleeping around with women, including married women. He is a driver in a very big company, yet his wife was suffering, catering for the children and even him.

“Her death is very painful. The man will never go unpunished. He has killed her now. So, who will take care of the little children? The youngest baby is less than two years old.”
