Dentist whose wife hung herself ‘over suspected affair’ started whirlwind romance’

The Sun on Sunday can reveal four months later he met another dentist at a conference and the pair hit it off.

They embarked on a “whirlwind romance”.

The woman, who is 45 and was single, also visited his home on one occasion.
But because Helen’s death was so recent the relationship came under pressure and ended — although both parted on good terms.

“They just started talking and hit it off.
“They did date and met up for dinner one time.

“But it was too soon for the family and things fizzled out.
“If it had been another situation things could have been very different.”
Tonight, the woman — whose identity The Sun on Sunday knows — refused to comment from her Somerset home.

The first person Nicoll called after finding his wife’s body was his golfing partner to cancel a planned game.
He was arrested when police treated her death as suspicious but was bailed and later cleared.

Helen had been convinced he had been having an affair but he denied it at the inquest.
